Probably John Richard Capps born about 1895, the son of Peter Capps a partner in Smart & Capps traction engine owners and general engineers. The 1911 census lists the family living at 29 Short Street, Carbrook with John employed as a Steel Turner. By the time the 1939 register was taken, i.e. as WW II began, John was living at 360 Sheffield Road, Tinsley with his wife Francis Ellen Capps nee Billcliff who he married in 1923.
