Edward Calley Manico (1847-1932) was born at Peckham, Surrey, the son of Edward Smith Manico (a merchant) and his wife, Elizabeth. In 1871, Edward Jun. was a chemical merchant in London. He launched his Sheffield business in about 1879 as an export house, selling table knives, forks, pocket knives, razors, and butchers’ knives. The office was Columbia Works in West Street.
