This firm was established in about 1852 as a Britannia metal and electro-plate ware manufacturer in Duke Street. The partners were Edwin James Buxton and Samuel Russell. The former (born c.1823) was the son of Jonathan Buxton, an auditor and highway clerk for Ecclesall Bierlow, and his wife, Ann.
