Cecil Blantern (1872-1950) was born at Cheadle, near Stockport, the son of Thomas Reddrop Blantern (a cotton cloth salesman) and his wife, Rachel nee Duckworth. Cecil’s father died at Cheadle in 1874, aged 51, leaving Rachel to raise the family.
