Founded in about 1948, Bellanco was a privately-owned cutlery manufacturer, based in Sycamore Street. The owner was John Edward Bell (1899-1987), 53 Marlborough Road (hence the punning name). He had been an armour plate inspector before the War. He specialised in daggers and spear point and hunting knives. The firm was bankrupt in 1952. The trade mark was a shield with a bell and anchor. ....
