Jonathan Brookes
Born in Sheffield on 4 December 1829, Jonathan Brookes was the son Jonathan Brookes (c.1803-19 December 1878) and Gertrude née Kent. His father was a cutler. His brother was John Brookes, of Brookes & Crookes. Both Jonathan and John specialised in the manufacture of dressing case instruments. In 1871, Jonathan was briefly listed in the Sheffield directory as associated with Brookes & Crookes. He worked in his chosen trade until at least 1901, when he was living with his wife....
