John Carr
A table knife manufacturer, John Carr appeared in a Sheffield directory in 1839. He was based at Hollis Croft. His early life in unknown, but he may have been baptised at Queen Street Chapel. If so, he was born on 31 March 1802, the son of John and Hannah. In the Census (1841), he was living at Crookesmoor with his wife, Ann, and their family.
