By 1851, John Thackray (born in Sheffield in about 1813). described himself as a cutlery manufacturer in Bernard Street, the Park. In 1860, he advertised his spring cutlery from a Works in Haigh Tree Yard, Parkhill Lane. He continued making spring knives into the 1870s, though he no longer appeared in directories. He was buried on 29 May 1874, aged 61, in St John’s churchyard, Park. His wife, Elizabeth, was buried there in 1877, aged 64. ....
