Joseph Foster Wilson (c.1824-1902) was born in Sheffield. By 1851, he was living in Brook Lane and was working as a pen knife cutler. He was listed in directories as working in the Allen Street area by the 1860s. By the 1880s, he was a spring knife cutler in Hollis Croft. He died in St Martin Street on 26 December 1902, aged 78, and was buried in the General Cemetery (alongside his wife Martha, who had died at the same age in 1898).
