Joseph Wragg was born on 27 March 1835, the son of John Wragg (of Solly Street) and his wife, Harriet. In 1855, Joseph married Matilda Davy (1833-1876). By 1871, Joseph manufactured ‘all kinds of spring knives’ from Crescent Works in Carver Street. By 1876, he was at Globe Cutlery Works in Carver Street, where in 1881 he employed ten men, three boys, and a woman. The business ended after 1884.
