The partners were Charles Richard Clark (c.1787-1841) and Robert Todd (bapt.1764-1837). The latter – who was probably the son of Edward Todd, a ‘patten maker’ – had been a partner in Longden, Binney & Co, a merchant at Campo Lane. After the dissolution of this enterprise in 1807, Todd joined one of his former partners (William Justice) and Charles R. Clark.
