John Arthur Clarke (c.1860-1927) was the son of William Clarke, a scissor smith, and his wife Elizabeth. John followed his father’s trade and by 1893 was a manufacturer of fine scissors and tailors’ shears. In 1895, he advertised in the Foreign Buyers’ Catalogue, as ‘successor’ to G.
