George Daffin was the son of Benjamin Daffin (c.1772-1849) and his wife Mary Grundy. Between 1816 and the early 1840s, Benjamin had been listed variously as a razor maker, hardware man, and cutlery dealer in King Street (with a residence in Arundel Street). He died in Howard Street on 19 October 1849, aged 77, and was buried in St Peter’s churchyard.
