George Darley
George Darley was born in Sheffield in 1896, the son of Walter Darley, a spring knife cutler, and his wife Mary. George joined George Wostenholm & Son when he was aged 13, becoming the third generation of his family to work there. He became works manager and director of Wostenholm’s. He was also a member of the Committee of Management of the Sheffield Cutlery Manufacturers’ Association and of the Wages Council for the Cutlery Trades.
