This firm can be traced to Pendleton & Walker, electro-platers and gilders, Orchard Street. It was listed in 1862, with Edwin Pendleton (c.1827-1893) and Albert Walker, Lansdowne Road, as partners. Walker was a clerk and shorthand writer. Pendleton had been born in Birmingham, but by 1851 lived with his widowed mother, Elizabeth, at Newport, Isle of Wight. Edwin was a hardware dealer.
