This Barlow-style pocket-knife (see Obadiah Barlow) was made in Sheffield (or in one of its outlying villages) by an unknown maker for an American company: C. M. McClung & Co. This firm was a hardware merchant in Knoxville, Tennessee, which was owned by Calvin Morgan McClung (1855-1919). It became one of the largest wholesale hardware firms in the American South. ‘CHEROKEE’ was one of its brand names. This knife was probably made in about 1900. ....
