This silver-plate partnership had its origins in the business of Godfrey Machon, who was born in about 1767. In 1792, he became a partner in Henry Whitelock, Ellis & Machon, which registered a silver mark from Red Hill, Broad Lane. William Tucker, James Fenton, Godfrey Machon, and William Whitelock was the next incarnation of this firm (silver mark, 1796).
