In the Sheffield directory (1797) Samuel Gregory was listed as a fine scissors maker at Little Sheffield. His trade mark was device featuring a cutlass and clover. He went into partnership with Thomas Mottram, but this was dissolved in 1799. The partners intended to continue to trade on their own account.
