R. W. Marples
Richard Wood Marples (1907-1984) descended from a scissors-making family. He was living with his grandparents at Leavygreave in 1911. By the 1930s, when he was residing at Cardoness Road, he was a scissors and tinners’ shears putter-together. After the War, he started business as a manufacturer of scissors, tailors’ shears, and trade knives (such as putty and painters’ knives).
