This firm was ‘successor’ to George Siddall. The owner was Charles Franklin Ward (1853-1921), who was born in Handsworth, the son of George Ward (a cattle dealer) and his wife, Ann. In 1881, he was an unemployed merchant’s clerk, but by the end of that decade was a partner in Isaac Ellis.
