George Raynor Thornton Marsden was born in Sheffield on 23 July 1850, the son of George Marsden (see Marsden Bros) and his wife, Mary. Between 1876 and 1879, he was a ‘manufacturer’ of table cutlery, palette, poultry, and oyster knives at Argyle Works, Hollis Croft.
