James Benn
James Benn (1817-1886) may have been the son of Marmaduke (a cutler) and his wife, Ellen. James was enumerated in the Census (1841) as a table knife cutler in St Thomas Street, living with his wife Mary. His first directory listing was in 1856 as a table knife manufacturer in Kenyon Works, Edward Street. By 1862, he advertised from an address in Siddall Street. Between about 1868 and the early 1880s, he produced table cutlery and scissors from Garden Street Works, Garden Street. He lived at Edge....
