At the start of the twentieth century, William Albert Cyril Goff (1893-1958) was an engineer tool grinder, living at Meersbrook with his parents: Thomas Goff (also a tool grinder) and Laura Louisa Goff. By 1939, William was a steel annealer at a rolling mill. After the War, he launched William Goff & Son as a cutlery manufacturer at 19-21 Carver Street, with his son, Thomas Henry Goff (1917-2001).
