Thomas Harrison (c.1819-1868) was born at Greenhill in Derbyshire. He was enumerated in the Census (1851) as a table knife forger and grocer, who lived in Eyre Street with his wife, Ann. Later in the 1850s, his business address became Eldon Street, where he combined table knife manufacture and shop keeping. By 1868, he was listed in a directory as a table, shoe, and palette knife manufacturer in Eldon Street.
