Robert Stanley Hemingway (1890-1967) was born at Norton Lees, Derbyshire, the son of Robert Hemingway, and his wife, Emma. His father was a silversmith’s clerk, then later a ‘silver warehouse manager (white)’. By 1911, when he lived in Lismore Road, Heeley, Robert Jun. was working as a table cutlery assistant manager.
