This scissors firm was established in 1903 by Alfred Frederick Booth (1865-1926). He was born in Sheffield, the son of Joel Booth (a tailor) and his wife, Hannah, who lived in Watery Street. Alfred became a scissors manager, before starting his enterprise in Button Lane. It was a ‘little mester’ operation, which eventually included Alfred’s son, Frederick Leonard Booth (1891-1968).
