The leading light was Frederick George Bishop (1876-1956), who was the son of William Bishop (a silversmith on his own account) and his wife, Sarah. The family lived at Meersbrook. Frederick was trained as a silversmith and by 1911 was listed as an electro-plate manufacturer at 87 Eyre Street. By 1919, he had formed Bishop & Froggatt, electro-platers, 34 Furnival Street. His partner was Fred Froggatt (1878-1946). The latter was a table knife cutler and the son of Tom and Harriet Froggatt. Soon Froggatt was replaced by William (Willie) Naylor.
The partners advertised occasionally in the early 1920s for warehouse girls, buffers and polishers, spoon and fork roughers, and insiders and dolliers. In 1924, the partners relocated to Star Works, Arley Street. In 1927, Bishop, Froggatt & Naylor was dissolved, after Willie declared that he was no longer connected with the firm. In the Census (1939), Frederick G. Bishop was an unemployed spoon and fork filer.
