Information on this firm is scanty. The name was stamped on Bowie knives, pocket knives, and table knives, which stylistically look pre-1914. The use of shear steel for this Hawley Collection knife would seem to confirm that time frame. Other Standard Cutlery Co knives were stamped ‘Made in Germany’. 

Standard Cutlery Co also had an office in New York in the first decade of the twentieth century. It seems likely that the enterprise was a merchant, possibly operated by German traders, who imported cutlery from Sheffield and Germany.
