John Gardener was listed at 86 Pea Croft as a table knife manufacturer and bone scale cutter in A New General Commercial Directory of Sheffield and its Vicinity published in June 1825. His only other appearance in a directory was in 1828 so the business seems to have been short-lived. He did get a passing mention in the Sheffield Independent, 2 Jan 1830, after he fell and broke his arm. Gardner was sometimes spelled Gardiner.
By 1833, Henry Gardiner was a bone haft and scale cutter at Common Yard, 84 Pea Croft
We have no example of their knives in our Collection.
