We believe that this knife was made for (or possibly made by) Robert Pringle & Sons, Wilderness Works, Clerkenwell Road, London.
That business was established in Clerkenwell in 1835 by Robert Pringle, a working jeweller who had moved to London fron Perth in 1820. It continued in business until 1965. Further information on the company can be found on the Internet. In particular, there is a definitive history by John Culme in "The Directory of Gold & Silversmiths, Jewellers & Allied Traders 1838 - 1914", published in 1987.
