Thomas Betts (1873-1934) was born in Sheffield. He was the son of Thomas Betts (d.1878) and his wife, Harriett – both file cutters. Thomas Jun. trained as a Britannia metal smith and in 1907 launched a business in Division Street as a silversmith, electro-plate, and Britannia metal manufacturer. His partner was James Furniss. In 1916, Furniss & Betts was dissolved. Thomas continued to trade under his own name in Brookhill and Sarah Street. He later lived in Glebe Road, Crookes, and died on 9 September 1934, aged 61. He left £1,829 to his widow, Annie. The firm continued to trade and advertised in The Ironmonger Diary (1952). In the mid-1960s, Thomas Betts was listed in River Lane and ceased trading at the start of the 1970s.
