This silver-plate partnership probably began with Thomas Blagden, who registered a silver mark in 1798 from Nursery Walk. In 1808, another mark was registered from White Rails, Bridgehouses, by James Kirkby, Thomas Hodgson, Samuel Kirkby, Joseph Elliott (d. 18 September 1840, aged 83), and Jonathan Woollin. By 1817, Blagden, Hodgson, Kirkby & Co had appeared. In the early 1820s, Blagden, Hodgson & Co was in Nursery Street, with a London agent (W. Ellerby) at Ave-Maria Lane, London. Apparently, the partners were Thomas Blagden and Thomas Smith Hodgson. Possibly a link may have existed with Waterhouse, Hodgson & Co (see Waterhouse, Hatfield). In 1832, the firm reported that it was giving up business, but advertised for a partner with £3,000 to join two others. Probably, the original partners were dead. In 1833, the business was dissolved by Ann Owen Blagden, May Ann Hodgson, Eliza Hodgson, Joseph Elliott (d. 1840, aged 83), and Jonathan Woollin. The firm, which had an orb mark, was absorbed by Hawksworth, Eyre.
