Thomas Padley was born on 18 July 1815, the son of Adam Padley, a ‘bookkeeper’, and his wife, Sarah. In the Census (1841), Thomas was a ‘cutlery manufacturer’, living in South Street with his father. A decade later, he was enumerated as a manager in the razor trade, living in Devonshire Street. In the directory (1852), Thomas Padley & Co, razor manufacturer, was listed at Court 4, Monmouth Street. His last address was in Chester Street. Thomas Padley, razor manufacturer, Hodgson Street, died, aged 45, on 28 December 1860. He was buried in the General Cemetery.
