Sheffield As It Is (1852) had an advertisement for this firm as a surgical instrument maker at Hall Carr Works. The Sheffield directory (1852) listed it in Savile Street, with James Theaker and Edward William Levick as partners. Theaker had operated the London Coffee House – for many years the only one in Sheffield – but died on 22 February 1854, aged 54. His son, however, was a ‘merchant and manufacturer of Sheffield goods’ and may have partnered Levick – who apparently was born in 1828, the son of Edward Levick, a button manufacturer, and his wife, Maria Sarah. Theaker, Son & Levick disappeared in the late 1850s. Edward William Levick apparently died in Rotherham in 1881.
