The Farquharsons were London-based and operated as wholesale warehousemen and hardware dealers in Hounsditch. In 1919, the firm was listed at 22 Rockingham Street, marketing stainless table knives and canteens of cutlery. The trade mark was ‘LIFE’, formerly owned by Francis Townsend. Interestingly, in 1919 Peter and James Farquharson were listed as partners (with T. K. Hawkins) in Wraggs, spring-knife cutlers, 72 Arundel Street. Farquharson’s apparently ceased trading in Sheffield the early 1930s. But the name and mark were listed by Whitham & Sykes (1953)1 at 117 Fitzwilliam Street – the same address as J. W. Haigh.
