This silversmith, born on 17 October 1829 and baptised at Lee Croft Chapel. He was the grandson of the Reverend Francis Dixon, minister of that Chapel. He served his apprenticeship with his uncle, James Dixon, of Cornish Place. As a manufacturer of electro-plate wares, including spoons and forks, Fanshaw was listed at several addresses – starting at Arundel Street in 1858 and ending in Shoreham Street in 1904. He died on 14 October 1913, aged 84. His gravestone can be seen in the General Cemetery’s unconsecrated section.
