Trade mark
In 1889 Hearnshaw Brothers were located in Sorby Street, makers of 'cutlery of all kinds', tools and electroplated goods. The company used the mark 'Joseph Rodgers, Sheffield' on cutlery and were successfully sued by Joseph Rodgers, on two occasions for trade mark infringement.
Hearnshaw Bros are listed in Whites 1919-1920 Directory as table knife manufacturers at John Bull Works. During the 1940's the company was acquired by Thomas R Ellin, Garden Street.
We have no example of their knives in our Collection and research is ongoing to find out further details about the company. If you have any information, please share it with us via enquiries@hawleytoolcollection.com.
