This cutler advertised in a directory in 1883 as a manufacturer of sporting, deer stalking, ladies’ scissors and toilet knives, besides a range of horticultural knives. The address was 78 Edward Street, where previously Shaw had partnered Henry Stacey Possibly Henry V. Stacey). Their partnership was short-lived (it was not listed in 1879 and was dissolved in 1882). Frederick Shaw apparently ceased trading soon after he advertised. Identifying the individual is difficult. ‘Frederick Shaw’ may have been the cutler of that name, who had been born in Sheffield in about 1826 and died in Sheffield workhouse on 11 November 1892, aged 66. His burial in the General Cemetery was unconsecrated.
