We believe this knife was made in Sheffield, possibly for the local newspaper called The Weekly Telegraph which was published between 1884 and 1951 (It was known as The Sheffield Weekly Telegraph between 1884 and 1887). The newspaper regularly ran competitions for its readers and, as well as cash prizes, offered many consolation prizes including bread knives.
